Textures in Use

I  wanted to use the textures to convey my two concepts. The first: the amalgamation of old and new. This is seen through the rounded surfaces of the station being applied with a modern, playful texture with circles. The second: function over form. I attempted to reflect the stability and simplicity of the structure with a square and regimented texture.

I used the artisan tool in SketchUp based off my axonometric drawing (third design of concept 2). The result was a sheltered cave like form. This structure is reminiscent of desert based buildings as the outer walls create shading from the harsh environment (both sun and wind resistance). Consequently, I alternated the weather and environment to match that of a dry tundra environment. I left the landscape and removed objects to create this baron environment.
